Gary grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa, majoring in Political Science and History. He later received a Teaching Certification from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He also holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa. He started with Truckers in 1984 and currently lives in West Des Moines. Gary enjoys traveling with his wife and kids, swimming, and biking.
